Caribbean Stud Poker

Playing Caribbean Stud Poker… Online

Caribbean Stud Poker is a favorite in the Caribbean and on cruise ships and now you'll find it online as well. Its main difference from regular poker is that each player competes against the dealer, not against the other players.

First step: You have to place your first bet, or your ante. Then click on 'Deal' and you will get five cards. The dealer then gets his cards, four face down, one face up. This is when you decide whether your hand is strong enough to bet on or surrender. If you surrender, you lose your ante.

The dealer then shows his cards. At this point, he will either qualify (meaning he must have an Ace/King combination or better) or not. If he doesn't qualify, you get a 1 to 1 payoff on your ante, regardless of what hand you have.

If, however, the dealer does qualify, his hand is then compared to yours. Using the standard poker value chart, if his hand beats yours, you lose your ante AND your bet (which is 3 times the ante amount). If your hand beats the dealer's, you win even money (1 to 1) on your ante plus a payoff on your bet based on the quality of your hand.

If you and the dealer have the same hand value (for example, you each have one pair), the winner is the one with the highest ranking cards.
