Craps

RULES

At first glance, the game of craps appears to be very complex. And, in fact, there are many different possible bets. But itÜs not necessary to know them all to play like a professional! You can have fun at the online craps table (which is far less intimidating than the real thing!) by learning a few of the basics.

THE BASICS

As you know, the game of craps is played with a pair of identical dice. There are six numbers on each die (1-6) so a pair of dice will give you 36 different combinations. The game of craps is based on how often these different combinations appear when someone rolls the dice. The following chart is a diagram of all 36 different dice combinations -

Total:

36

You can see that out of all possible combinations, the seven will appear the most - six times. The six and eight will appear five times each, and the five or nine will appear four times each.

The game of craps is based on the most popular number, seven, and how the other numbers compare to it. For example if a seven rolls six times (in 36) and the six rolls five times, the odds of the six rolling before the seven are 5:6. In practical terms, this means that if you bet $5 on the 6, and it rolls before the seven does, you win $6 for your $5 bet.

The first roll of the dice is called the come out roll. If a 4,5,6,8,9, or 10 is rolled, that number becomes Ŕthe point”. The white puck labeled ŔON” shows that the point has been established and itÜs located on the layout over the box for that particular number. Any pass line bet wins if the come out roll is 7 or 11, and loses if the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12.

The shooter now keeps rolling the dice until he rolls the point number or the 7 to end the round. If the point comes up first, a pass line bet wins. But if a 7 comes up first, a pass line bet loses. To end the round, the shooter must roll either the point or 7. Unresolved pass line bets cannot be removed from the table until then.

Betting

Bets can be placed in the various fields of the craps table before the dice are rolled. First, left click on the value of the chip you wish to wager. Move the chip to the desired betting area of the table. To change or remove a bet, RIGHT click on the chip. Then click on the roll button to roll the dice. Here are the different bets you can make at the craps table:

Pass Line Bets

Also called the ŔFront Line”, this is the most popular bet at the Craps Table. A wager on the Pass Line wins if the first roll of the dice (the Come Out Roll - when no point has been established) is a 7 or 11 (known as Ŕnaturals”) and loses if a 2, 3 or 12 is rolled first. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled, that number becomes the Point. Once the Point has been established, to win the bet the player (or shooter) must repeat the Point before a 7 is rolled. If the Shooter rolls a 7 before the Point is repeated, the Pass Line bet loses. A winning bet is paid even money. Once the point has been established, this bet may not be removed or altered.

DonÜt Pass Bets

Also called the ŔBlack Line”, this bet is the opposite of the Pass Line bet and can only be bet on a come out roll with no point established. This bet wins if the shooter rolls a 2 or 3 on the Come Out roll and loses immediately if a 7 or 11 is rolled on the Come Out. If a 12 is rolled, itÜs a tie and play continues. Once the point has been established, this bet wins if the shooter rolls a 7 before the point is repeated.

Come Bets

This bet is an extension of the pass line bet and may be wagered after the point has been established on the Come Out roll. The rules for this bet are the same as the Pass Line bet. The Come bet wins if a seven or eleven is rolled and loses if a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled. Any other number becomes your come point and must be repeated before a seven rolls in order to win even money. If the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 after a Come Bet has been placed, the dealer will move the Come Bet from the Come area to the corresponding box for that particular number. Just as with the Pass Line bet, this wager may not be reduced or removed until play is completed. A winning wager is paid even money.

DonÜt Come Bets

This bet is the opposite of the Come Bet. It may be wagered any time after the point has been established on the Come Out Roll. A first roll of 7 or 11 loses, 2 or 3 wins, and 12 is a standoff. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled after a DonÜt Come Bet has been placed, the dealer will move the wager from the DonÜt Come area to the corresponding box for that particular number. You win even money if seven is rolled before the point is repeated.

ODDS BETS

An odds bet is a "back up" bet on an original pass line bet, don't pass line bet, come bet, or don't come bet. The maximum odds bet is 3 times your original bet.

PASS LINE ODDS BETS

After the point has been established, a pass line odds bet is placed by clicking with your left mouse button outside of the "PASS LINE" bar, under your original pass line bet. A winning pass line odds bet pays true odds: 2:1 on a roll of 4 or 10, 3:2 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 6:5 on a roll of 6 or 8. Unlike the original pass line bet, an unresolved pass line odds bet may be removed.

DON'T PASS LINE ODDS BETS

Once the point has been established, a don't pass line odds bet is placed by clicking with your left mouse button on the right side of your original bet in the "Don't Pass Bar." A winning don't pass line odds bet pays true odds: 1:2 on a roll of 4 or 10, 2:3 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 5:6 on a roll of 6 or 8. An unresolved don't pass line odds bet may be removed. However, if you click with your right mouse button to remove your don't pass line odds bet, your original don't pass line bet will also be removed.

COME ODDS BETS

Once the come point has been established, a come odds bet is placed by clicking with your left mouse button directly under your come bet within the box that corresponds to the come point: "4, 5, SIX, 8, NINE, or 10." A winning come odds bet pays true odds: 2:1 on a roll of 4 or 10, 3:2 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 6:5 on a roll of 6 or 8. Unlike the original come bet, an unresolved come odds bet may be removed. In the Craps game, come odds bets are inactive during come out rolls by default.

DON'T COME ODDS BETS

Once the come point has been established, an odds bet is placed on your don't come bet by clicking in the tiny space directly under your don't come bet within the narrow, uppermost bar over the box that corresponds to the come point: "4, 5, SIX, 8, NINE, or 10." A winning don't come odds bet pays true odds: 1:2 on a roll of 4 or 10, 2:3 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 5:6 on a roll of 6 or 8. An unresolved don't come odds bet may be removed.

Place Bet to Win

This is an additional bet that can be made once a point has been established. A Win wager can be made on the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. The wager wins if the place number is rolled before a 7; otherwise it loses. Pays 9:5 on 4 and 10, 7:5 on 5 and 9, and 7:6 on 6 and 8.

Place Bet to Lose

This is an additional bet that can be made at any time and is opposite of to Place Bet to Win. The wager wins if 7 is rolled before the place number; otherwise it loses. This pays 5:11 on 4 and 10, 5:8 on 5 and 9, and 4:5 on 6 and 8.

Hard way Bets

Whenever a shooter rolls doubles and the outcome is a 4, 6, 8 or 10, the shooter is said to have hit the number the Ŕhard way,” that is, by rolling doubles (two 2Üs give you a hard 4). If any of these same numbers are rolled and the outcome is not doubles, the shooter is said to have hit the number the Ŕeasy way” (a 3 and a 1 roll gives you an easy 4). A hard way bet is placed in the box with the two illustrated dice showing 4, 6, 8 or 10. The shooter wins when he rolls a number the hard way. A hard way bet loses if the shooter rolls a number the easy way or rolls a 7. Hard way 4 and 10 pay 7:1. Hard way 6 and 8 pay 9:1.

One Roll Bets

These are wagers on the outcome of a single roll of the dice. The payouts are based on the number the player chooses. The player immediately loses or wins depending on the next roll of the dice.
